The men’s conference on Evangelism in Primorsky Region

The traditional annual brothers conference of the organized Association of Churches of Evangelical Christians-Baptists (UECB) of Primorsky Territory, was held on February 22, 2020 in the city of Artem. The main subject of discussion was questions of practical evangelism in the realities of modern Russian society.

The rain and snow that had come the day before along with the frosts that hit after that did not stop the brothers from attending. Despite the ice, representatives of churches from Vladivostok, Ussuriysk, Zarubino, Zavodskoy, Arsenyev, and Chernigov gathered for a great time of mutual edification.

The overseer from Ussuriysk, Akif Askerov, spoke about his missionary experiences in small towns of the Far East. Despite the failures during the first months, he managed to see the fruits of his labor - people who turned to the Lord and began to meet with other groups of believers.

Roman Motry, a youth minister from Artyom, conducted a workshop on evangelistic conversations with strangers, and demonstrated methods of moving the conversation in the right direction, to share Christ effectively.

Yaroslav Orlov, a youth leader from Ussuriysk, spoke about his personal experience of preaching on the city streets using a cardboard box with the inscription “I know the secrets of eternal life”.

Given the growing popularity of the Internet, a deacon of the UECB church “Good News” of Vladivostok, Andrei Dementiev, drew attention to the importance of evangelism through the world wide web. In his opinion, the Internet, including social networks and services such as Wikipedia and Youtube, as well as other virtual sites, are a very suitable place for missions and evangelism, and Christians should use these tools more actively.

After an instructive sermon from pastor Vladimir Trohimenko from the Association of Churches, and congregational prayer, the conference participant dispersed to their churches, taking with them new knowledge and the intention to put all they learned into practice.
