"Biblical Manhood and Womanhood”

On November 14, 2020, in the village of Inozemtsevo (Stavropol Territory), a regional youth meeting took place on the topic: "The Biblical Image of a Man and a Woman."

For several months, young people have been looking forward to getting together to see each other and listen to instruction from God’s Word. "As the deer panteth for the water, so my soul longeth after Thee" - these words of praise song accurately reflected the desire of all those gathered to be closer to the Lord.

Aleksey Kislitsyn, a local pastor, noted that the image of a man and a woman is changing before our eyes, and their differences are being erased. However, even at the very beginning of the Bible, we read that God created a man and a woman, there are no other options. Today, families are more likely to encounter depressed husbands, and wives who are unwilling to obey their husbands. This once again confirms that family happiness can be achieved only when both the husband and wife adhere to the role that the Lord gives them. In a Christian family, a husband, in addition to household cares, should take an active part in serving the Lord. Brothers, we need to go forward, thinking about the work of God, remembering the words of Christ: "I am the vine, and you are the branches; whoever abides in Me and I in him bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing" (John 15:5).

During the break, the participants in the meeting were divided into groups, where they discussed aspects of the roles that the Lord has established for men and women. Then the conversation continued over into dinner.

In the second part, guests from Stavropol, Pyatigorsk and Grozny took part in singing. The youth leaders summed up the discussion of the biblical image of a man and a woman that took place during the break. It was a good opportunity to share one’s opinion in groups and get familiar with the position of other participants. Ultimately, everyone could check themselves against the Scriptures.

Dmitry Rogozin, a local church pastor, noted that the world is constantly rebelling against God’s design for men and women, but only He knows what we really need. He endowed Adam and Eve with different functions, but the same value in His eyes. The image of a real man is revealed to us through the example of Christ and is built on obedience to God and the leadership of the Holy Scriptures. This example is also a model for women. By looking to the Lord, we can fulfill the role that God has prepared for us. A humble and contrite heart helps us in this. "A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit; you will not despise a broken and humble heart, O God." (Psalm 50:19)

At the end of the meeting, Roman Semyonov, another local pastor, answered questions (Q&A) that the participants put forward during the event. It was decided to continue this topic at the next regional youth event because of the necessity and interest of everyone who attended.

I would like to express my gratitude to the Lord, and also to thank the organizers for the opportunity to get together to learn from the Holy Scriptures. Being in the company of brothers and sisters is especially valuable for every Christian, because, despite the distance, we are all one family.
