Report on the 59th UECB Euro-Asian Federation Congress

From October 4 to October 9, 2022, the 59th Congress of the Euro-Asian (EA) Federation of UECB Churches was held.

The congress was held this year in Antalya, Turkey, and was attended by delegations from 9 ECB unions, the EA federation, and guests from other countries. From the Russian UECB, Peter Mitskevich, Victor Ignatenkov, Vladimir Miskevich and Tanasov attended. The wives of certain speakers attended as well. In total, 14 countries were represented: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Germany, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Moldova, Russia, USA, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Scotland.

There was an amazing excursion to all the different cities of the churches written about in the book of Revelation, chapters two and three. From this, a resolution was adopted:

Dear brothers and sisters, we inform you that the 59th Congress of the Euro-Asian Federation’s motto was: “Behold, I am coming soon; hold fast to what you have, lest anyone take your crown." (Rev. 3:11).

We live in a special time of "wars and rumors of wars, nations rising up against nations" (Matthew 24:6,7). Churches in our countries, in fulfilling their God-given mission, are actively helping war-affected refugees by providing food, clothing, and shelter while preaching the gospel.

Information and reports were provided by brothers from different countries, including those in very difficult conditions. In this especially hard time, we continue to pray for Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, the countries of the Transcaucasus’ and Central Asia. The Churches of the EA Federation long for a speedy end to the war in Ukraine, constantly praying to the Lord for peace in Ukraine, for the revival awakening of all peoples, and for the establishment of Jesus’ rule on earth.

The Holy Scriptures gives us a word of comfort : “When these things begin to come to pass, then rise up and lift up your heads, for your deliverance draws near” (Luke 21:28). On this and much more, we were able to meditate and pray, as we visited the biblical sites of Asia Minor.

The delegates of the Congress deeply felt the words of the Lord's warning to His Church. Let us pray and be vigilant in this troubled time.

“Wake up and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your works complete in the sight of my God. Remember then, what you received and heard. Keep it and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you.” (Rev. 3:2-3).

We are aware of the Lord's warning to move the lampstand of those who have lost their first love. Let us be attentive to the internal and external attacks of satanic forces on churches. We will surely do our best resist and repel them.

It is repeated seven times at the beginning of the book of Revelation: "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the EA Federation, which was established in the fall of 1992. The Soviet Union collapsed, the system of state atheism collapsed, with the advent of freedom to preach the Gospel, a spiritual awakening came to the expanses of the former Soviet Socialist Republic, and millions of people seeking the truth were able to hear about God and were reconciled to Him. Each independent country formed its own Union of Churches. To preserve spiritual unity, the Unions of 12 countries of the former USSR formed the EA Federation of UECB.

We support the continuation and deepening of cooperation within the framework of the EA Federation, the fellowship of Evangelical Christian Baptists, our historical heritage, living traditions of holiness, and the common doctrine of Evangelical Christian Baptists. At the same time, we intend to develop the ministry of the EA Federation, which may entail a change in its structure and expansion of the territory of activity, so that our ministry meets the new challenges of our time.

We ask the churches to support in prayer the ministry of the newly elected leadership of the EA Federation represented by President Nikolai Vozian (Moldova), Vice-Presidents Nagapetyan Asatur (Armenia) and Sergey Kondaurov (Kazakhstan), as well as Yuri Apatov, who will continue to serve as executive Federation Secretary.

Today, more than ever, the world needs a faithful Church, which, like a lamp in the darkness, will illuminate sinful darkness and bring the light of the Gospel and the good news to corrupt humanity.

We are bound by mutually binding ties of truth and love in Christ Jesus, and we are together one family and one brotherhood of Evangelical Christian Baptists!
