Gideons International - Ministry Workshop in Krasnodar

At the beginning of the workshop, prayer were made for different areas that especially need to spread the gospel of Christ. Then new opportunities for coordination and accountability in evangelism were presented. This is a necessary part of serving God, because in the Scriptures we read: "Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants;" (Matthew 18:23). This was a reminder to us by Viktor Remizov from Pyatigorsk.

In the second-half of the day, participants examined the biblical text: “Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel” (Phil. 1:27). 

The spiritual condition of a Christian is determined by the fruit of the ministry in which he labors. A positive result can be achieved if you abide in the vine, (i.e. be in fellowship with Christ). This is facilitated by weekly prayer meetings, ongoing collaboration, and accountability to each other. Evangelists pray for forthcoming labor, for “open doors” and for people who receive the gospel. 

Although it is impossible to share the Good News in some institutions today, nevertheless, prayer and personal evangelism must be continued, remembering that God hears us and answers prayers. Of great importance in the gospel is the testimony of life: how a person lives, how he relates to the church and its ministers. Evangelists must be in good standing with the local community.

It was interesting to hear about one particular amazing meeting between one evangelist and the owner of a gift shop, which once opened its doors earlier than usual. It was on that day that Viktor Remizov came, who met him and told the story of Abraham and Isaac. This made a strong impression on the owner, as his son recently received healing after a serious illness. Then Victor told him about the death and resurrection of Christ, and a few days later he returned and presented a copy of the Gospel, for which the store owner was very grateful. Such testimonies of the power of the gospel strengthen the spirit of the whole Church of Christ.

There is a difference between evangelism and personal testimony: the first involves the message of the gospel of Christ, and the second is the demonstration of a godly, changed life. One needs to be a spiritual model, and evangelism should be an experience of interaction between people and God. It is important to remember that each person who receives a New Testament has an invaluable soul, which we need to be wise and devote time to.

The Gideon ministry represents Jesus Christ and, doing the work of God, they strive for peace with all people. Much in evangelism depends on motivation, and the best motive for this glorious work is the desire to glorify God and show love for people!
