Urban Boot camp “CityCamp”

At the end of summer, 43 young brothers and sisters gathered from all over the country, in the building of the Russian UECB, to take part in a new project of the Youth Department - the city training camp CityCamp. Throughout the week, they, divided into four groups, received training in such areas of practical ministry as Evangelism, Media, Worship and Event Management, so that after the camp they would be more effectively involved in ministry in their local churches - this was the main focus for growth.

In each of the directions, the guys were served and trained by real professionals in their field. If we list all the topics and aspects of service, all the practical cases that the campers studied and worked through during this time, then this note will turn out to be too long. It was very eventful and extremely practical! But in addition to learning, the participants had an interesting and varied way of organizing their free time from school: a quest, a picnic, walks, river buses, games, visiting churches, a movie evening and much more!

As a practical task, the camp participants had to come up with, organize and conduct an event for the city’s youth in literally 5 days. As a result, all this resulted in a large youth festival in one of the city parks, which included a volleyball tournament, evangelism, singing musicians, refreshments for all participants, board games, a sermon for all those gathered and much, much more! In total, the festival was attended by more than 200 people, a good half of whom were non-believers, and some of them even came to church the next day!

God blessed this camp richly! And most importantly, the result was 43 people who are eager to serve God and people in their local churches with their gifts, talents and skills! God willing, the next such project will take place in the summer of 2024. We are waiting for you!

Here's what the camp participants themselves say:

I am so encouraged! This was my first trip to Moscow and it was amazing!!! Our free time was varied and interesting; we were shown Moscow from very interesting sides. The training was high quality - Invited guests, trips to the studio, reporting project. We were given the opportunity not only to gain knowledge, but also to put it into practice! This is the best camp! Everything was thought out to the smallest detail!

The camp electrified me to change! I really liked the fact that they went straight from words to practice! Our track leader Ilya is an excellent leader and mentor. The guys became closer and closer to each other every day. This camp made some of my dreams come true, so I will never forget it! I received a lot of practical information, which upon arrival I will definitely use in serving God to expand His Kingdom. I'm so inspired that this energy will last for many more years to come, I'm sure! Looking forward to the next Camp!

The camp gave a powerful challenge - it provoked me to develop further in my ministry! I really liked that in addition to the training, there were trips around the city to see places. Also well organized in general, and food was great. I am very glad that I attended this camp; I received a lot of new useful information that will help me grow in ministry for my church.

The camp gave me a boost to reach a new level of service. I saw that through media you can have a very big impact on this world and now I want to put my heart and energy into it. What I especially liked was that we were given the responsibility to organize an event that we would never have undertaken on our own!

Andrey, Krasnodar, 20 years old

The camp opened my eyes to things that I had not even thought about before - it changed my thinking in terms of organizing projects: where to start and how not to burn out. Now I want to put all this into practice, especially to start hosting conferences and camps at my church. The training was interesting, without any fluff, everything was clear. We examined the topic from different angles, with many real-life examples. This made it possible to look at the situation from the other side and learn lessons for myself.

Elena, Kolomna, 17 years old

The camp inspired me to serve and gave me motivation not to be afraid to try, to grow gradually, gave me the opportunity to try myself as a copywriter at an event of a higher level than in my church, plus i gained many new friends. I hope that I will be able to further study the topic of media, design, photo and video processing in order to serve this in my church and reach a new level. Thanks to the organizers for all the events: quests, games, walks - it was a wonderful time for communication and team building. Thank you for keeping the focus on God and the constant reminders of the importance of the entire team praying before doing anything. Thank God for the final event, for the people who came. I loved being a part of a common cause and serving with the gifts that God has given us. And it’s cool that we could immediately try something in practice, and not just listen to theory.

Anna, Moscow, 21 years old

I'm so glad that I was able to visit here and learn so many new things! I want to apply all of this to ministry. I know for sure that it was not in vain and greatly inspired me to serve God in the media field! I will definitely start a ministry in my local church, because so far our media is not developed at all. I am delighted with the people who surrounded me, so many motivated and on fire, with whom we could share experiences and simply hang out, and take excursions in the city! I really enjoyed the quest and of course our final event! Thank God that everything went so well and organized!
