Prayer for Israel and Palestine

A letter from the European Baptist Federation

Together with the Baptist World Alliance, we encourage you to pray for Israel and the Palestinian territories, who are asking for fervent prayer for peace. These include the Association of Baptist Churches of Israel, representing 17 Baptist churches, and the Council of Local Evangelical Churches of the Holy Land, representing 13 Baptist churches in the Palestinian territories, including the Gaza Baptist Church. Let us mourn together as one Baptist family in Christ Jesus for all those whose loved ones have been killed or are in captivity. We will follow the path of peacemaking, unconditionally rejecting terrorism and any actions directed against the civilian population, containing derogatory statements or restricting human rights on national or religious grounds. Let us generously give help and support with the compassion of Christ. Let us join our Baptist family and all those who suffer, in the midst of difficulty and violence, to once again hear the words of the prophet Micah to “do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with our God” as we strive to restore justice and peace for all people. Our Baptist leaders in the region ask for our prayers and support.

As the various crises in the European Baptist Federation (EBF) region worsen, we continue to lift up our brothers and sisters in these countries and respond to their needs.
In Isaiah's vision of the coming Kingdom, the Lord "will judge among the nations and decide the disputes of many people." Although we live in a time when the Kingdom of God has not yet fully arrived, we can pray that glimpses of this Kingdom will be visible now.
We pray with our brothers and sisters in Israel and the Palestinian territories, in Armenia and Azerbaijan, in Ukraine and Russia for the intervention of our Heavenly Father and the advent of His Kingdom at this moment in history to restore peace among the nations. We pray with our brothers and sisters in Turkey and Syria for healing and restoration as they are still suffering from the severe earthquake that occurred in February 2023.

We are very grateful for your participation in our common work through which we can serve each other in the Baptist family. Thank you for your participation, support and prayers!
