“Who is my neighbor” - Weekend Events in Stavropol

On February 10, 2024, about 120 brothers from different churches in the Stavropol region gathered for fellowship in the Georgievsk church. Elders, deacons, preachers and missionaries discussed together about who is my neighbor in the church, in the world, and who considers me their neighbor.

One day Christ shared about a good Samaritan who helped a needy person by caring for him. God Himself acts in this role towards us, showing undeserved mercy and  grace.

Having loved God, we naturally convey heavenly love to those around us, noted Viktor Ignatenkov. Our love is born in response to God's and is then poured out not only into the church, but into the world that God loves. It is important not only for us to serve, but also allow others to serve us, so that they too can collect heavenly rewards.

During the conversation, participants in groups discussed these issues and then shared their conclusions. Experienced workers had the opportunity to share the experience that the next generation so desperately needs. Also, the group of men inspired us with their uplifting singing.

After the gathering, the regional pastoral leadership council took place. After which there was a trip to Zheleznovodsk, famous for its mineral springs.

On Sunday, Viktor Vladimirovich continued his service in St. George’s Church. He conveyed greetings from the leadership of our Russian UECB,, as well as from his home Smolensk Church. As believers, we especially enjoy God's grace as we gather together. The text read - “Therefore I, a prisoner in the Lord, urge you to walk worthy of the calling to which you have been called” (Eph. 4:1). The Lord put us in a new position and gave us a new title. Therfore, Simon became Cephas/Peter, the fiery tool that we see God used in the first half of Acts. Once a persecutor, Saul (a royal name), after meeting the Lord, became Paul (little), wanting only Christ to be seen in him now. We are disciples of Christ, Christians, that is, we learn from Him and introduce Him to people. Through the blood of Jesus we receive salvation and become beloved of God, receiving the status of His children.

Christ's path to our hearts was through the cross, and today He calls everyone to open their hearts to Him. This sermon really burned in the hearts of the church and served as a call for those who have not yet entered the family of God’s children.

The hymns of the brotherly group sounded: “Let us become brothers, let us stand and glorify the Lord. Let us give Him praise and honor, let us lift up our prayers to heaven.” Those who desired also offered prayers before the throne of God.

At the end of a blessed day, fellowship took place for the churches in the area, at which Viktor spoke about his path for the Lord and serving Him for a long time. Those interested prepared a number of interesting questions to which answers were given (for example, what can youth do to increase the local church, what is the state of those saved by the Lord, individual questions on the texts of Scripture). We talked, sang, talked about God's actions in our lives, and in conclusion we listened to a word of encouragement and edification from our guest. We are grateful to the Lord for the time spent in communication with Viktor Ignatenkov, who served our community and the regional brotherhood. Through the blood of Christ we have truly become family.
