Music Conference in Southern Rostov

“Praise the Lord, for it is good to sing praises to our God, for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting” (Psalm 147:1) - under this theme, an interregional music conference was held in the central church of Rostov-on-Don on March 2, 2024.

About two hundred people took part in this UECB conference: musicians, conductors, choristers, and sound engineers from churches in the Rostov, Donetsk, Lugansk regions, as well as the Krasnodar, Stavropol Territories, Central Russia and Moscow. A total of thirty cities were represented.

The program was opened by the combined choir of Rostov churches, after which the senior pastor of the Rostov region, Andrei Datsenko, welcomed everyone to the event. The director of the Moscow Institute of Sacred Music, Kirill Goncharenko, was invited as the main speaker of the event. He covered such topics as “Dogmatics and Music” and “Music in the Church”.

After lunch, conference participants had a wonderful opportunity to attend master classes, choosing a topic that interested them. A master class on conducting was conducted by Goncharenko. Asmik Apinyan and Irina Lyapko shared their choral and solo singing skills, and sound engineers received useful knowledge from Anton Sorochkin. Also a master class for musicians was conducted by Sergey Peredereev and Evgenia Romanenko. At the end of the day, the participants were offered the topic “Tell your children.” Vera Peredereeva shared her experience in developing children's music ministry in the church, and Evgenia Romanenko spoke about the possibilities of family music ministry, after which the ministers answered questions that arose from the participants during the conference.

The musical highlight of the program was the performance by professional musicians of instrumental arrangements of the songs “Great God” and “Not in the Words of Prayer Speeches.”

“We thank the organizers for the opportunity to glorify God together, receive useful information and practical skills. Such meetings inspire and edify,” these are the participants’ reviews of the conference. In the feedback form, many also noted the professionalism of the speakers, the opportunity to exchange experiences and make new acquaintances, as well as the atmosphere of unity and a delicious lunch!
