However, not all children have such bright prospects...Instead of joy, many suffer; instead of enjoying delicacies, starve; instead of playing and walking under the gentle summer sun, hide in basements from exploding weapons and rockets...
But the most terrible thing is the death of children. Hunger, diseases, and wars irrevocably take away many young souls from the earth! And adults often kill unborn children, aborting and depriving them of the opportunity to see and enjoy this world!
On June 1, 1950, shortly after the bloodiest war in human history, International Children's Day was celebrated for the first time. Since then, every summer we start with thoughts about children, but, unfortunately, there are no fewer suffering children... rather the opposite...Someone once said: “there is no such thing as other people’s children,” and this thought should be especially dear to us Christians.
Let a prayer sound from our lips for children: for those who are far away and those who are close; for those who are well now and those who are suffering at this moment. Let us pray for God's protection and mercy for the entire young generation of our planet...
And let's also ask ourselves what I personally can do to bring a spark of joy and hope to some child's eyes.
