“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain” (1 Cor. 15:58).
Greetings from Moscow and the Russian Baptist Union! Last month, all of the regional pastors and leaders gathered for our bi-annual gathering, with prayer, reports, instruction and care for one another. This was a special time of encouragement and realignment with the Lord’s goals for His church. How important it is that we keep our focus on the Lord and His gospel, so that everyone in Russia would hear the truth and freedom to be found in Jesus!
In general, this is the season where new men are being elected as leaders of cities and regions to lead, give direction and represent their areas in our baptist conference. Many are being re-elected as their ministry has been invaluable to the brotherhood. Our country is divided into seven regions with one man overseeing each one. Pray for these men and the large task of shepherding the many thousands they are responsible for.
We can give an update on the Gospel House Church in St. Petersburg. The initial stages of clean-up are just about completed. This church building was in major disrepair and mistreated for decades, taken by the government during the Soviet time period, and was finally given back to the Baptist congregation through major court battles a couple years ago. We continue to send help, workers and support to continue that historic rebuild. A foreign missionary in the late 19th century, Fettler, bought and paid for the original church to be built. We hope it will be a blazing beacon of hope for those in that region.
The most important things that can be prayed for right now are: peace and unity. As you may know, our theme of the Baptist Union this year is centered around “Peace and Unity.” We are praying for peace between nations, peace in the hearts of believers, and peace for every Russian to know the peace with God that comes only through a relationship with Jesus.
Please continue to pray for the building up of God’s church here in faith, community, peace and unity. Blessings to you all!
