Bike trip – July 21 – Kansk town

A prison-fortress appeared in 1636 on the bank of the Kana River to protect Russia from invaders from the south. Later, in the 18th century the highway to Moscow crossed the town.

A prison-fortress appeared in 1636 on the bank of the Kana River to protect Russia from invaders from the south. Later, in the 18th century the highway to Moscow crossed the town. It became a post station and its inhabitants had to cover all expenses connected with the running of the highway. At that time at the crossing of this town with the highway to Moscow a historical centre of the future town was formed. The first stone building was erected there – Spassk church. The lands of Kansk remember thousands of prisoners who went through this town to the places of exile – the gloomy faces of bond peasants, Decembrists. In early 60-ties of the 18th century the Government issued a series of decrees about sending people to exile in Siberia.

There was a holiday in Kansk that day. The town Administration announced the day of the 21st of July – the Day of healthy way of life. A festive program organized by the local Youth Council consisted of a greeting and three dances. Finding out about the arrival of the bike Expedition of the Russian Union of Evangelical Christians-Baptists local leaders became very glad and invited us. Our bikes standing in front of the stage told people that we were frank with them. Evangelical Christians-Baptists are for the strong and spiritually healthy Russia.  In each location we say assuredly: “Modern Russia needs to repent and needs spiritual renewal”. According to some statistics drug addiction in Russian has increased 5 times among adults and 300 times among teenagers. About 10 million crimes are performed in Russia annually. According to the information of Home Affairs ministry footing of the hidden economy is about 750 billiard rubles. Such situation exists because of a huge gap between rich and poor people, which creates antagonism, social envy, creates spiritual crisis, and distortion of moral values.  Greed dominates in behavior and actions of people.

On the 21st of July, downtown Kansk we, members of the Transcontinental  bike expedition, preached and gave out the NTs to all people. Inhabitants of Kansk who did not know anything about God came together in the square by the Spassk church. They came to see the holiday of healthy way of life not knowing that real healthy life begins with repentance and acceptance of God, church attendance and Bible reading and Gospel preaching! We said about it. Only the Lord knows if our words reached the hearts of people.
